Ingredients:
- 1-2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 12 chicken feet
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1.5 cm fresh ginger, peeled and grated
- 4 green onions, sliced into rings
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ cup light soy sauce
- ¼ cup dark soy sauce
- ¼ cup rice vinegar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- freshly ground black pepper
- 1 cup cold water
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 200°C. Coat chicken legs in cornstarch, season with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat and sear chicken until golden brown on all sides.
- Place the legs in a baking dish and roast for 15 minutes.
In the skillet where you seared the chicken, add a little more oil if needed. Quickly sauté garlic, ginger, and scallions for about a minute to release the flavors. - Reduce heat and add honey, light and dark soy sauce, rice vinegar, and black pepper. Stir. Slowly pour in water, add brown sugar, and stir until completely dissolved. Bring the mixture to a boil to thicken the sauce, then remove from the heat.
- After 15 minutes of baking, remove the chicken legs and pour the sauce over them. Make sure to coat the meat well with the sauce on all sides. Return the dish to the oven and bake for another 15 minutes, turning the chicken occasionally and adding sauce. Make sure the legs are fully cooked and the meat comes away easily from the bone.
