Chicken Strips

The history of chicken strips goes back several decades. They were created in the 1950s by Colonel Garland Sanders, the founder of KFC, or Kentucky Fried Chicken. Sanders’ original recipes were always kept secret, and his breaded chicken was popular from day one.

Ingredients:

  • 500 g chicken fillet
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Baking powder (optional)

Directions:

  1. Let’s start with the chicken fillet. Cut it into narrow strips to make strips. This can be done with a sharp knife.
In a deep bowl, prepare the marinade. Beat the egg, add the milk, and mix well.
  2. Place the chicken strips in the bowl with the marinade so that they are saturated with flavor. Leave them in this state for 15-20 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and sugar. You can also add baking powder for a more airy breading.
  4. Bread each strip, rolling it in the flour and spice mixture. Make sure the strips are evenly coated with the breading.
  5. Heat the oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. There should be enough oil for the strips to float in it.
  6. When the oil reaches a temperature of about 180 degrees Celsius, carefully fry the strips. Do not overcrowd the pan so that they have space to fry.
  7. Fry the strips for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Place the fried strips on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  9. Serve the chicken strips hot with your favorite sauces, such as barbecue or ketchup.
