Chocolate Wafers

For lovers of the classics, the Viennese waffle recipe is perfect, but Viennese waffles with chocolate are considered more refined. Waffles with chocolate are always a feast of the taste, especially served with cream, fruit, or nuts.

Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Turn on your waffle iron so it is ready to bake. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Mix with a spoon until smooth. This will be your dry base for the batter.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the milk, eggs, and melted butter. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Add this mixture to the bowl of dry ingredients and mix gently.
  5. Add the chocolate chips and gently fold them into the batter.
  6. Place about ⅔ cup of batter in the waffle iron and bake for about 3 minutes (time varies depending on your model).
  7. Decorate the finished waffles with your favorite toppings: whipped cream, strawberries, chocolate syrup, or additional chocolate chips.
