Pepperoni Pizza

Pepperoni pizza is one of the most common types of pizza. Its uniqueness lies in the use of the same-named spicy sausage, which gave the dish its name. By the way, because of its piquant taste, Italians often call Pepperoni the devil’s pizza.

Ingredients:

  • Pepperoni sausage – 170 g
  • Mozzarella cheese – 115 g

For the sauce

  • Tomato powder – 200 g
  • Dried oregano – 1 tsp
  • Dried basil – 1 tsp
  • Granulated garlic – 1/2 tsp
  • Granulated onion – 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar – 1/2 tsp
  • Salt – 1/2 tsp
  • Ground black pepper – 1/2 tsp

For the base

  • Wheat flour – 390 g
  • Dry yeast – 7 g
  • Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – 1.5 tsp
  • Water – 265 ml
  • Olive oil – 80 ml

Directions:

  1. To prepare the sauce, dilute the tomato powder in warm water until it becomes a paste. Add 100 ml of water, salt, sugar, spices, and mix thoroughly. Put the finished sauce aside.
  2. Add 240 g of flour to a deep bowl. Add dry yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix. Pour in water and olive oil. Mix thoroughly until smooth.
  3. Gradually add the remaining flour, making a soft, sticky dough.
  4. Sprinkle the work surface with flour. Put the dough in and knead it for 5-6 minutes until it becomes smoother and more elastic. Add a little flour if necessary. Place the dough in a bowl greased with oil, cover with a towel, and put in a warm place for 10 minutes.
  5. Divide the finished dough into 2 parts. Sprinkle your hands with flour, form a ball from 1 part of the dough, and slightly stretching the dough with your hands, form a round flatbread with a diameter of about 30 cm. Repeat the steps with the other part of the dough. Place the bases on baking sheets covered with baking paper. Grate the cheese on a coarse grater, cut the sausage into thin round slices.
  6. Grease the bases with sauce. Put the cheese and sausage slices on top. Bake in an oven preheated to 220 degrees for 18-20 minutes.
  7. Pepperoni pizza captivates with its amazing, piquant taste. Tender dough is ideally combined with sweet and sour tomato sauce, aromatic herbs, viscous salty cheese, and thin slices of spicy sausage, which sets the tone for the entire flavor palette.
