Pesto Classic

Despite the fact that there are now many options for preparing the popular Pesto sauce, the classic recipe is rightfully considered the most harmonious and delicious. Therefore, if you have not yet had time to try this masterpiece of Italian cuisine, prepare it according to our simple recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Basil – 100 g
  • Pine nuts – 4 tbsp
  • Parmesan cheese – 50 g
  • Olive oil – 150 ml
  • Garlic – 3 cloves
  • Salt – to taste

Directions:

  1. First, prepare the ingredients: remove the hard part of the basil stems, and cut the leaves with a knife. Peel the garlic, and cut the cheese into small pieces.
  2. Place the basil, cheese, garlic, pine nuts, and salt to taste in a blender bowl.
  3. Grind the mixture, periodically turning the blender on and off and pouring in the olive oil in a thin stream. Mix the mixture with a blender until you get the desired degree of homogeneity of the sauce.
  4. The sauce is characterized by a bright taste of basil, which is complemented by original nutty and salty cheese notes. This sauce can be served with almost all dishes that have a neutral taste. For example, some season pasta with it, others spread it on baguette slices. It is advisable to store the finished sauce in a glass jar with a hermetically sealed lid. It is also recommended to pour a small amount of olive oil over the sauce, which will prevent air from entering. In this way, the sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for about 2-3 weeks.
