Pizza With Pear and Gorgonzola

The combination of juicy fruits and noble cheeses is traditional not only for all sorts of snacks. It is often found in baking. A striking example is pizza with pear and gorgonzola, which belongs to the dessert category. It differs from classic pizzas by its sweetish taste with original exotic notes – thanks to blue cheese.

Ingredients:

  • Wheat flour – 160 g
  • Water – 100 ml
  • Dry yeast – 2 g
  • Olive oil – 2.5 tbsp
  • Salt – to taste

For the filling

  • Pear – 1 piece
  • Gorgonzola cheese – 210 g
  • Mozzarella cheese – 100 g
  • Parmesan cheese – 25 g
  • Arugula – 20 g
  • Walnuts – 20 g
  • Honey – 1/2 tbsp
  • Olive oil – 1 tsp

Directions:

  1. First, prepare the dough. Dissolve the yeast and salt in warm water. Cover with a kitchen towel and leave in a warm place for 15 minutes. During this time, foam should form on the surface.
  2. Add flour to the work surface. Form a mound and make a depression in it. Pour in the yeast mass and olive oil. Make the dough and knead it thoroughly until smooth and elastic.
  3. Roll the finished dough into a ball and place it in a bowl greased with oil. Cover with a towel and put it in a warm place for 30 minutes. Then lightly knead the dough and leave it to rise for another 30 minutes.
  4. Cut the mozzarella into thin slices. Break the gorgonzola into small pieces. Grate the Parmesan on a fine grater.
  5. Chop the walnuts into large crumbs. Cut the pear in half, remove the stalk and core. Cut the pulp into thin, long slices so that they resemble half a pear.
  6. Sprinkle the work surface with flour. Lay out the dough and roll it out into a round layer with a diameter of about 28 cm. Transfer the pizza base to a baking sheet and grease with olive oil.
  7. Place slices of mozzarella on the pizza base. Distribute slices of pear and pieces of gorgonzola on top. Sprinkle the pizza with grated parmesan and nut crumbs.
  8. Bake in an oven preheated to 220 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Serve the finished pizza, garnished with liquid honey and arugula. Enjoy!
  9. It is recommended to serve the finished pizza with pear and gorgonzola hot, optionally complemented with a glass of white wine. The delicate yeast base harmonizes with the bright filling of juicy, sweet pears, crunchy walnuts, aromatic honey, and three types of exquisite cheeses, adding a special piquancy. And the spicy arugula gives the dish a refreshing touch.
