Scotch Eggs

Scotch eggs are a traditional dish of British cuisine, which is boiled eggs in minced meat and breadcrumbs. It is believed that this snack was first prepared and served for breakfast in London in 1738. At that time, Scottish eggs were recommended to be served hot with sauce, but later this dish turned into a cold snack for a picnic.

Ingredients:

  • Minced pork – 400 g
  • Chicken eggs – 6 pcs.
  • Wheat flour – 1 tablespoon
  • Breadcrumbs – 2 tablespoons
  • Sunflower oil – 100 ml
  • Salt – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Chili pepper – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Nutmeg – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ground coriander – 1/2 teaspoon

Directions:

  1. Boil 4 eggs. To do this, dip them in boiling water and cook for 2 minutes.
  2. Pour cold water over the finished eggs and leave for 10 minutes. Peel the cooled eggs.
  3. Add 1 raw egg, salt, chili pepper, nutmeg, and coriander to the minced meat. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Pour some flour into a flat plate. Roll the peeled eggs in it.
  5. With wet hands, form balls of minced meat approximately 1 cm thick and 8-9 cm in diameter. Place a boiled egg in the center of each ball. Form balls so that the minced meat completely covers the egg.
  6. Beat an egg in a deep bowl. Pour breadcrumbs into a flat plate. Dip the balls in the egg mixture, and then roll them in breadcrumbs.
  7. Fry the finished balls in a large amount of vegetable oil until golden brown.
  8. Then send them to an oven preheated to 180°C for 15 minutes.
  9. The result is a delicious dish for breakfast, an ideal snack for a picni,c or a hearty snack on the go. If you wish, you can add a side dish to the ready-made Scotch eggs.
